Brownsea Island- Replica Camp

Summary

Patrol LEaders CampA Centenary Camp on Brownsea Island to celebrate 100 years of Scouting specifically for Patrol Leaders. The camp follows on from the Diamond Camp in 1967.  There will be two PLs from each County/Area in the UK.

Idea/ Programme

The Patrol Leaders' Camp takes place on Brownsea Island just before the Sunrise Camp. The idea is that from the second they step off the boat from Poole Harbour, until we return them safely back to their parents/ carers, the participants do not stop.

On arrival at the Island, the participants will enter ‘The Time Trail’- a chance to experience Scouting through the ages, from 1907 right through to the present day. They will then experience many activities (different activities to those offered at the WSJ), as well as an extensive entertainment programme.

The participants will all be centrally catered for, and the sub-camp leaders of the four subcamps (Ravens, Bulls, Wolves, Curlews- named after B-P’s original subcamps) will make sure the participants have the time of their lives, from start to finish!

This experience will be as close as many Scouts will get to experience the Sunrise Camp.

Aims & Objectives

County/area Commissioners will nominate 2/3 PLs from their county/area to attend this camp.

To enable the Scout Section to join in the Centenary Celebrations alongside the World Scout Jamboree, with a truly unique and exclusive camp. The Camp will be an action-packed 3-day event.

To energise even more fun and adventure in Scouting, giving many young people the chance to take part in activities they would never normally have the opportunity to do, and with people that they would never normally get the opportunity to meet.

To experience all of this at the place where Scouting was born, experiencing the beauty of Brownsea Island.

Audience

Approx 250 Patrol Leaders (through CCs and ACC Scouts)
