World Scout Jamboree – an international celebration

WOrld Scout JamboreeBetween 27th July and 8th August, Scouts from nearly every country in the world will be coming to the UK for the 21st World Scout Jamboree – the highlight of the World Scouting calendar.

In an event that will involve more young people than the Olympic Games, 40,000 Scouts will camp, live and work together at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, for 12 unforgettable days of celebration and international friendship. It will be one of the biggest adventures in the history of the Movement.

There will be opportunities for young people to find out about each others’ cultures and faiths, to share skills, take part in adventurous activities and tackle some of the biggest issues facing the world today. There will be practical projects too – working with local communities around Chelmsford, Scouts will make a lasting difference to the local communities and help to improve the quality of the local environment.

World Scout Jamboree only takes place every four years. The last time the UK hosted the event was in 1957, at the time of Scouting’s 50th anniversary. We are delighted that the UK – as the founding nation of the World Scout Movement – has been chosen as the host for the Centenary Jamboree.
