Like many Scouts and Guides across the country who are attending next year's World Scout Jamboree, Scouts and Guides from the West Midlands have been busy fundraising.
To support their attendance at Hylands Park, five Units from the area have been car-washing, bag packing, and completing sponsored events, as well as many more activities. Many of these efforts have assisted or supported their local communities.
To recognise the contribution these Scouts and Guides have made in their local neighbourhoods, the West Midlands Police force recently presented each Unit with £250 and a certificate recognising their hard work. The cheque was presented by Chief Superintendent Gordon Scobbie to members of the ‘007’ (Birmingham) and ‘Soljam’ (Solihull) Units.
The young people continue to work within their local areas supporting local initiatives, as well as raising much needed money for the Jamboree. Assistant Leader of the ‘007’ unit, Fran O’Connor said, 'It is nice to see that the efforts of these young people has been recognised by our local Police in this way. The variety of work from all of our Scouts and Guides, not only in relation to attending next years Jamboree, is worthy of recognition.'
