Prohibited and Restricted Camping Areas

Introduction

This directory lists camping areas and sites that are not available, or which are not entirely suitable, for the special conditions of Scout camping. It is published for the assistance of Leaders in arranging camps, and to avoid applications being made to owners who have already indicated that it is not convenient for them to allow camping on their land.

Using The Directory

When looking for a camping site please use the menu on the right to select the Country and County you are going to. This will then give you details of any prohibited or restricted areas or sites in this County.

Nights Away Leaders - In areas listed as Prohibited permission to camp will not be given. In areas listed as Restricted permission to camp must be obtained in advance from the person named.

District Commissioners - Please do not give approval for any Nights Away events to take place without reference to this directory.

Updating The Directory

The information included within the directory is based on the information supplied by each County. Where a County shows as having 'no prohibited sites' or 'no restricted sites', this means that there are no sites that have been notified to us.

If you believe that any of the information contained in this directory is out of date or incorrect, then please contact the County Secretary.

County Secretaries - Please send details of any updates to the Activities Team at activities@scout.org.uk. Please include all details required (including reasons). There is no specific time of the year when these updates need to be sent, as the directory can be updated at any time.
