Note
  • There are many unclassified mill lodes that could be used for training, care should be taken over unknown depths and high walls causing exit problems from the water. All rivers in the County, the River Irwell especially, are interspersed with many weirs, some large and/or vertical, care and vigilance is thus required when the water level is
normal and extreme caution and consideration is necessary in high water conditions. The BCU publication Canoeing Waters in the North West gives more detail on the various rivers in this area.
