The 2007 World Scout Jamboree is going to
be a global event bigger than the Olympic
Games. It is also an opportunity for you to tell
your community about the exciting things
going on within the Movement! To help you
maximise positive media coverage of the
Jamboree in your area, we’ve created a Fact
Sheet with loads of interesting facts about the
event.

Adults:
There are many different ways that adults can
get involved with the Jamboree. Some of
those areas include:
International Service Team- a team
of 8,000 people working as the
backbone of the Jamboree. Tasks will
range from running activities, working
with transport, and food distribution.
Organising/Delivery Team- a team
of around 250 volunteers who will look
after the management and delivery of
various elements of the Jamboree.
The majority of these volunteers have
been hard at work for nearly 5 years!
Build/Take Down Team- from the
beginning of July 2007, this team will
work on all aspects of preparing the
site for the Jamboree. This will include
putting up tents, laying cables,
building gateways, and sorting out
banners and fabrics, amongst others.
Off-site Programme Team- a team of
1,000 specialist activity instructors will
look after activities at Splash! and
Gilwell Adventure. We’re looking for
people with skills in kayaking, pulling,
abseiling, high ropes and many more!
Home Hospitality- this team will host
over 8,000 Scouts wanting to
experience “British life.” From trying
tea for the first time to riding on the
wrong side of the street, participants
are looking to see a culture in a way
that most won’t! The home stays will
last around 3 days and will take place
in homes all over the UK.
Contingent Management and
Support Teams- these teams will
provide information and support to
Units and the UK IST leading up to
and during the Jamboree. They will
also take on additional areas of
responsibility as needed.
Day Visitors-for those who can’t
make it to the entire event, there is the
opportunity to come along and enjoy
the festivities for the day! Day Visitors
will be able to take part in a range of
activities, take a tour of the site, and
watch a special show in the main
arena.
Cast- there is a whole range of
performance opportunities for people
who can sing and dance. There will be
around 11 performances which will
take place in the opening and closing
ceremonies, as well as in daily shows.
