Scouts conquer desert


Team Desert Scouts before they leftTeam Desert Scouts have succeeded in their quest to drive a £100, 16-year-old VW Golf from Plymouth to Banjul in The Gambia.

After three weeks and 7,000kms the three Network Members were elated to make it to the finishing line on 14 January.

The trio had to cross a mountain and desert, where their car was almost engulfed by sand.

On their adventurous journey, they even managed to 'drop off' some UK Contingent World Scout Jamboree scarves to Mauritanian Scouts who will attend this summer's Centenary Jamboree.

Rob, Matt, Rich took part in the challenge to celebrate Scouting's Centenary and to raise money for a local hospice.
