Route masters

A group of Welsh Scouts will be travelling the length and breadth of the UK by train this weekend to mark the Centenary. Over 48 hours, the six Explorer Scouts, eight Scouts and three Leaders will visit 13 places, taking in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The travellers depart on Friday at 4.45pm from Welshpool and will return on Sunday at 9.51pm - assuming the trains are not delayed of course.

The budding train enthusiasts pre-journeyAlong the way, they will stop at Birmingham, Bristol, Reading, Blackwater, Guildford, London, Peterborough, Grantham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Stranraer, Belfast and Carlisle.

Scouts from the different areas will meet them at each stop, where they will exchange commemorative badges and carry out some activities.

One of the Leaders Bob, said ‘We are doing a range of activities, some organised locally and some taken with us. Glasgow is putting on a barbecue, South Berkshire a sleepover with games and supper. We are taking three activities with us, one is rocket launching and another a memory game and another whipping a rope. Some of this is from the Join-in-Centenary pack. It's basically a special something for the Centenary.'
