Scout team head off to World Scout Winter Games
Seventeen-year-old Explorer Scout Jack Marshall-Grint from Norfolk is part of a British team of six currently competing in the inaugural World Scout Winter Games.
The aim of the Games is to bring together Scouts from many different countries to participate in an international fun competition involving various winter sport disciplines.
Jack, along with the rest of the team, arrived at Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland yesterday, having spent the last week training for the Games in France.
He found out he had been successful in getting a place at the Games in December. After this final preparation he is now ready to compete in ice skating, curling, slalom skiing and cross country skiing events.
There will be five teams of six taking part, including teams from the USA (two teams), Switzerland, Portugal (two teams), Liechtenstein, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Canada.
All team members have to compete in each discipline. Points will be awarded for each discipline for the overall results.
The Games are running from Thursday 27 February to Monday 3 March.
