Do you know 'Britain's Most Inspiring Fundraiser’?
Charity search engine Everyclick.com is calling on all Scouts and their Leaders to recognise the exceptional fundraising efforts of local people and take this opportunity to share their stories. The winner will be nationally recognised and will receive £20,000 for their chosen charity.
The UK-wide competition is being held in memory of renowned fundraiser Jane Tomlinson. Sadly, Jane passed away in September 2007, having raised more than £1.75 million for cancer charities through a serious of gruelling physical challenges, whilst battling breast cancer.
One person who has been nominated this year for his fundraising efforts is Scout Leader Stewart Bethell from Ipswich. His nomination said: ‘He is an amazing and inspirational person, always caring and will help anyone or support charities to help others.
He has have raised money every year for over 20 years in various fundraising events and is now acting Group Scout Leader, as well as a Scout Leader. I have to say that Stewart goes for big fundraisers and puts his heart and soul into it; giving up all his free time to organize them. You will know this can be a stressful job waiting for people to reply to give their support.’
‘He is well known and popular within the area, voluntarily giving up his time and resources to help run camps for young people. He deserves recognition for the hard work he does for Scouting and all the time and effort he puts into fundraising.’
Stewart said: ‘I have endeavoured to achieve one charity event a year, whether it be for my Scout Group, the local children’s hospice, or any other charity.
'If everyone in the UK gave two hours to a charity, how much pressure would be taken off all those who work hundreds of hours a week for free. What a difference would it make!’
Founder Polly Gowers said: ‘Everyclick.com hopes to recognise and commend those selfless individuals who have demonstrated ingenuity, personal commitment and a determination to raise funds for charities of all types and all sizes. We hope the accounts of these inspirational fundraisers will enthuse the UK public to make the simplest of changes and incorporate fundraising into their everyday lives.’
Friends, family members or colleagues can nominate those who have gone the extra mile to raise money for good causes at www.everyclick.com.
The closing date is 18 April, after which a judging panel will select one winner from all entries to win £20,000 to donate to the charity or charities of their choice.
