Recruitment: a fresh approach
Get space on company intranets or in staff bulletins
Overview:
Some offices, particularly if they are part of a large organisation, will have a company intranet. This is essentially an internal website that will contain information relevant to staff. Alternatively, or sometimes in addition to the intranet, companies will circulate staff bulletins, providing relevant information to staff. So try and make the most of these methods to promote local opportunities in Scouting!
Top tips:
- If you are using this method to promote opportunities, remember to make the information relevant to the audience you are trying to attract. If you know someone who works at the company, ask for their advice on what might convince workers that volunteering for The Scout Association is right for them. The answer may be flexibility, it may be the opportunity to develop new skills, it may be a chance to try new things; whatever the answer is, be sure to address it.
- It is a good idea to contact Human Resources departments to ask for advice on the best method to achieve results. They may have another method of circulating information to staff, or may be able to point you in the direction of another way to promote your opportunities.
Case studies:
