Recruitment: a fresh approach
Recruiting students: SSAGO
Overview
The Student Scout and Guide Organisation (SSAGO) is a society that exists to support Scouts and Guides whilst they are at college or university. It also welcomes students who have never been involved in either Movement, but who are committed to the aims of Scouting.
Students will join a local SSAGO club to participate in a variety of activities. They will not be joining specifically to become a leader. However, SSAGO clubs offer a pool of resources that can be used by local Scout Groups. Members may want to help out or become a Leader, they may be interested in running activities for Group and District events, or they may be interested in joining Service Crews or Activity Teams. The only way you will find out what members of a local SSAGO group can offer you is by asking!
Top Tips
- Get in touch with your local SSAGO club – there are over 30 across the UK. By following the ‘SSAGO Club Directory’ link below you can find the website and contact details for your local club. The directory will also tell you which colleges and universities are included in each particular club.
- Make use of the resources available on the student webpages by following the link below.
