Young Leaders' Scheme
The Scout Association is pleased to be working with Sainsbury's and the new youth volunteering charity v to promote volunteering through Scouting. Over the next couple of years, we'll be working to make as many 16-25 year olds as possible aware of the opportunities that volunteering in Scouting can offer.
One of the first areas we'll be concentrating on is the Young Leaders' Scheme. Part of the Explorer Scout Programme, the Young Leaders' Scheme has been enormously popular over the last couple of years, with over 7,000 young people getting involved. With the help of Sainsbury's and v we're hoping to greatly increase those numbers.
What is the Young Leaders' Scheme?
As Explorer Scouts, people aged between 14-18 have access to a wide range of exciting activities. As well as this they can choose to become a Young Leader, working with Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. Young Leaders receive training and ongoing support to help them to get the most out of their role and to ensure that the young people that they work with really benefit.
The Young Leaders' Scheme can count towards the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Queen’s Scout Award, with many Young Leaders undertaking both Awards at the same time - and so getting double the recognition!
