B&Q is delighted to be working in partnership with The Scout Association to support the Cub Scout DIY Activity Badge and the Scout DIY Activity Badge.
It is B&Q's aim to engage young people in DIY and home improvement tasks, allowing them to develop the skills and confidence to embark on projects of their own. DIY skills are largely lost to this generation and, as the largest home improvement and garden centre retailer in the UK, B&Q are in a position to address this. They want to give these skills back to young people, helping them to be self-sustaining and giving them the opportunity to create future homes to be proud of.New Resources

On a showery weekend in June 2011, B&Q brought their know-how and enthusiasm for DIY to the Beaver and Cub Fundays at Gilwell Park, setting up a workshop and teaching the eager young people how to make a mug tree. The Beavers and Cubs enjoyed learning how to use various tools and picking up some basic DIY skills.Waste Donation Scheme
B&Q would also like to make all groups aware of their Waste Donation Scheme. All groups can access this scheme by contacting their local store. This scheme will enable groups to access end of line or slightly damaged stock, which will include paint and wallpaper, but might also include other useful products such as timber, which will enable groups to complete the tasks required to meet badge criteria at no cost.
B&Q were pleased to sponsor the Gilwell 24 event by providing product to support the build zone.
