National Grid – Cub Scout Home Safety Badge activity packs
National Grid is the largest utility in the UK.
We own the high-voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales and operate the system across Great Britain. We also own and operate the high pressure gas transmission system in Britain and our lower pressure distribution business delivers gas to 11 million homes and businesses in the North West, the Midlands, East Anglia and North London.
For National Grid, safety is a key issue. We are investing billions of pounds in the nation's infrastructure, providing safe and secure energy supplies, which are vital to the public.
Helping young people become aware of simple measures they can take to be safe in and around their homes is a great place to start. We all take our domestic electricity, gas and water supply for granted, but not everyone is sure of what to do if there is an emergency, the lights go out or if there is a gas escape.
National Grid sponsors an activity pack for the Cub Scout Home Safety Badge. Each Cub Scout who is interested in gaining the badge will be given one of the packs. In the form of a poster, the pack has eight activities for Cub Scouts to complete. These include a word search, a spot-the-errors picture, mark-the-location exercises and some valuable home safety advice.
Sponsorship of the Home Safety Badge helps support our commitment to operating as a socially and environmentally responsible business. We have been supporting and delivering community programmes for over 10 years and last year invested over £6 million in local communities across Britain.
